You are on your own and wish to come along side the jetty to take on board fresh water.
The world and his wife are moored up all over the place so you hang off and hold your position very skillfully against wind and tide with the hose over the side to indicate your intentions.
Eventually a small gap appears and you with an amazing display of seaman ship manage to slot your craft into the tiny gap(only 3 x longer than your boat)with out
needing to exchange insurance details.
The boat comes to a gentle stop with out shaking the teeth of all standing on the jetty watching your every move..Hurrah Cool or what.
You leap out nimbly to grab the pre prepared rope(of the correct length with bowline )and attempt to tie up you STILL moving poxy boat.
O my gawd one of the engines is still in gear.....................Panic Panic
Has anyone found a way of installing some sort of light or buzzer to tell when the thing is in neutral?

And the weather for the weekend is...............

Off you trot to the local RS supplies or similar and buy a micro-switch with a roller in the actuating arm. Now comes the cleaver bit. You've got to make a mounting bracket to hold the switch in position with the roller against the actuating arm on the gearbox. You can either file a flat on the arm or fix a cam on the shaft that will actuate the switch when in neutral. Most of the switchs are double contact so you can wire the output of the switch to either turn a light on or off when you are in neutral. Even better wire it to a relay so you get both the light and a start inhibit when you are in gear.

Good luck

Chris ;o)

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!
