Yes. Including a Honda twin hulled race boat. And (like you I believe) I have a Lotus which I track. And an ex biker unfortunately. So I'm not against speed at all. Love it in fact. Just think it's incredibly stupid of the harbour authority to allow it inside the bay.

It needs segregating just as you wouldnt allow pedestrians, cyclists and invalid carriages on the M4.

I disagree that segregation is necessary, to follow your analogy, you get pedestrians, cyclists and invalid carriages in enclosed tarmac areas like carparks along with fast cars, there is no problem as long as everyone uses a little common sense and doesn't scream around the carpark at 60 mowing people over.

What's needed is a response from the harbour patrol boat when some idiot goes ripping through the fleet of dinghys at 30 knots. They need to be reprimanded for their dangerous driving. Speed is safe if the conditions are right.

On one day when the Bay is desserted (say a weekday morning) it is perfectly safe to do 30 knots accross the Bay. But to do it on a sunny weekend day when the Bay is crowded is inexcusable. Common sense is all that's needed.

Cardiff Bay Bylaw 5B (I think) reads along the lines of 'It is an offence to operate a vessel in a manner that causes concern to other water users' - enforce this and there is no problem!

And how do you enforce that? It's even unfair.Your view of what would cause offense is very clearly different from mine. How could a mbob driver find out who he was offending?

The answer is simple - a 5 knot limit 24/7 in all areas. That would be enforceable though I very much doubt it would be enforced. It isnt where it applies now

Trouble is most yachts sail faster than 5 knts, so we might as well all sit in the bar and say it was a draw rather than all shooting round the cans spilling wind to keep exactly on 5 knts!!
I have never been too bothered about speed in the bay, but must admit it is annoying if a boat creates loads of wake near the pontoons, especially when i'm upside down fixing something in the engine bay!
Ps....who is the gay bloke on that advert right of this page?
