well what a boat? They say it is cheaper to blow out a 3500? hp engine than replace the sail, what's going on?

Any comments? Whats the Blo...dy thing cost in the first place and I would love to try and anchor it somewhere. (Where is big enough)

Close-lipped about the price

Met the owner's project manager the other day; nice guy, fascinating job.

He laughed at high speculative guesses of 100 million, stated much less than that. When the questions headed down towards 30 million he temporarily lost the use of his voice so draw your own assumptions from that.

Meantime I sit here, 23 floors up, in an office that is not quite at the level of the mast top on Mirabella, once it gets stepped. I think the launch will pale into insignificance once it gets out when that is going to happen...after all it's hard to hide the job of dangling a 90m carbon pole in mid-air.

Um, not sure it need be a raggy/stinky argument, need it? I met some crew from it recently, aussies. Sea trials soon, then palma and france. Loads of space and depth round there, and fine to anchor out for days and days in that thing. Then orf to the carib, then back, then same again a few times, then try and sell it for £22million, fail, secretly sell it for £16million, then it'll go to Far East, meanwhile it's rotting away cos the crew knew sod all about maintaining boats though plenty about brushing things, then try and sell the thing for £10million in about 2010.

Are you jealous or something? There are bigger yachts around, just not a bigger sloop (that's only 1 mast for the uninformed). If you want to have a stinky vs raggie argument: what would be the annual fuel costs for a yacht of this size if it was without sail? I expect the consumables used for electrical power generation alone would shock most people.
