But you are not "critically questioning government messages", you are ignoring them. That’s not a good enough answer. If people didn’t critically question government messages we would be in a very different society.

There you go, - who on earth wears a coat of any colour during a spell of warm weather, it’s madness. There’s men in white coats outside our house?
The pubs are shut !A&E and surgical wards in hospitals across the U.K. are very quiet, which makes you wonder why they are so jam packed normally.
Same with me.I have followed the rules so far. Even when I haven’t wanted to.
Risk is something to manage not ignore blindly.
I’m not. I’ve followed them. But you are not "critically questioning government messages", you are ignoring them.
If everyone literally stayed at home for a couple of months the virus would be gone.
Nope I think he was bored. If so he did a good jobContent deleted
Exactly. It constantly surprises me how many people believe this. Many seem genuinely to think that this 'lockdown' is to eradicate the virus. That's not possible. There will always be someone, somewhere in the world, with it, passing it on to two other people who pass it on to two more each. Then one of them will get on a plane...
The only thing this lockdown can do is buy some time for the NHS etc to better equip itself. And since the lockdown cannot continue indefinitely, the moment it ends, is the moment it resurges.

You don't need a dehumidifier this time of year unless you have a very leaky boat.

Its not for him to decide what is essential."it beggars belief to be honest. I have been out once in a month to drop food to my mum 200 yards round the corner as she could not get an Ocado slot and we could. That is it. No walks etc. That is what we have been asked to do. How difficult is it to simply follow the Rules."
But this is the problem, we have not been asked to simply stay at home, we have been asked to stay at home unless something essential requires you to leave home, and some examples of essential have been given by the govt (exercise. Food shopping, helping other people, doing your job that can't be done at home etc etc) , but it's not an exclusive list.
We've been given discretion as to what constitutes essential, and obviously one man's essential is considered to not be essential by another man, hence all these arguments on forums all over the Internet .
The op decided it was essential to check on his boat and I reckon he could successfully argue that in court if it came to it (but it never would) but I'm sure that lots of people are making trips that would not be considered essential.
OP has never disputed he “ broke the lockdown “ .....it’s the title of his thread .1. Staying at home
You should only leave the house for very limited purposes:
- shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
- one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
- any medical need, including to donate blood, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
- travelling for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home.
thats it. There is no discretion
Staying at home and away from others (social distancing)
