Will you get a chance of any high speed running? Inland waterways so maybe not.
Most of the way here was unrestricted but 13 to 15km/h is comfortable especially as the Maas is very high just now. It knocked off a few km/h going against the current l. In Holland’s deep there is not much flow so we were in convoy with the big freight boats keeping one eye astern and one ahead so we did not get run down. Once in the old Mass we were pretty much on our own.

Loving the whole story. Lovely boat. Keep us updated on progress
Made it to Veghel, being the awkward person I am I moored stern to when everyone else is bow to 😇 beautiful town, and tomorrow the Americans are coming in convoy for the 80th anniversary of Operation Madket Garden, thdd we whole town is covered in Dutch, American and Union Flags, most of the houses in the town centre have Airborne Screaming Eagles hanging out the windows. So we decided to spend a bit of time here and see the convoy, which left Leopoldsburg yesterday on it’s way to Arnhem.

We got as far as Helmond and are stuck here, the next Sluis is broken with a stuck door, divers and a crane are working on it just now but it might be tomorrow before we can go again, it’s too far to go back up to the Maas and would put an extra 3 or 4 days on to the trip

It has a strainer in it, both filters were filled with leaves and weed both are clear now. Replaced the impeller but the starboard engine is not pulling in any water still. Too tired now to do anything about it and will start again first thing in the morning.

Tied up at the waiting area of the sluis and some idiot in a large electric cruiser came hammering out the sluis and the wash was so bad it broke our middle bollard on the port side. Reported him but he just laughed it off on the radio.

I’m not an expert by any means but I installed silicone marine exhaust water temperature gauges. They give a rapid indication of water supply restriction to the motor as the filter baskets block up. I’m also in a river with weed issues . I hope you sort your problems quickly tomorrow. My only experience of overheating was a failed balance pipe which resulted in the coolant disappearing. I just stopped regularly and refilled it as no way of repairing the pipe. 3 to 4 bar sounds very high for the river water cooling circuit.

I always wondered how effective the filters on those tall units were but to be fair we never had a problem.

Sorry to hear that you have problems and we can only hope that karma deals with the skipper of the electric boat!
