You are a marketing god - we are not worthyI call it, scrubbing brush on a stick
What can possibly go wrong? Electrocution maybe. Then you will love my next project….my boat is on a finger berth…what I would like is an upright stand with two hooks on it…one with a mooring line so that as I come along side I can pick up a loop and put it over my mid-cleat and be instantly secured….the other hook will have the shore power on so that I can also plug in instantly.
It will be made purely from scrap metal in my workshop…no costs involved

There’s a commercial product available - (a stupid name I can’t remember - but looks a bit like a devils three pronged fork and found in the bigger chandlery catalogues) which has a flexible (sprung?) joint at the bottom so if you clip is as you come alongside it moves out the way.Pictures will be forthcoming
Yes, I’ve seen them also....but couldn’t find one anywhere online. Also each dock manufacturer has there own system for attachment. Still, making one won’t take long and it’s freeThere’s a commercial product available - (a stupid name I can’t remember - but looks a bit like a devils three pronged fork and found in the bigger chandlery catalogues) which has a flexible (sprung?) joint at the bottom so if you clip is as you come alongside it moves out the way.
I’m not sure your shore power is an amazing idea - but I have seen a boat which leaves a big “step” on the finger when it leaves and that step opened up (like a chest) to store stuff like that.
The problem is that it is leaving a live plug with exposed pins, it could be slightly better by changing the fittings on the boat and shore power cable such that the boat has the male fitting and the cable the female but even that is a shite idea with the potential for water to get in the plug and cause a short and trip the supply. I am sure his marina would not be happy with it.There’s a commercial product available - (a stupid name I can’t remember - but looks a bit like a devils three pronged fork and found in the bigger chandlery catalogues) which has a flexible (sprung?) joint at the bottom so if you clip is as you come alongside it moves out the way.
