No me salting the chips, it was a mate (with high blood pressure!)
Yes, and the marina price rises happened so suddenly. I had been about to go to Turkey for a season.Greece may not be very cheap anymore, but spare a thought for those of us in Türkiye. Prices have got so expensive here Turkish people are getting ferries to the islands for shopping and socialising. Many foreign and Turkish boats are leaving the marinas here for cheaper berths on the Greek Islands.
What goes round comes round, I remember 25 yrs ago going to Turkey for winter layup and work was a lot cheaper than Greece.Greece may not be very cheap anymore, but spare a thought for those of us in Türkiye. The cost of progress. Only the remotest parts of the world are excluded from the affects of globalisation. Ordinary people in Eastern Europe are starting to enjoy the benefits we in western Europe took for granted, and that costs money.I hope this post doesn't get deleted but I was always concerned when any country that had an exchange rate more than 10 thingies to the £ came into the Euro, it would push prices up. Used to get thousands of lira, drachma etc but now the beers are min €5 instead of the coppers they used to be.
It really depends on what you mean by high. Definitely much higher than they used to be, but how do they compare to Ireland or the UK for instance. The actual staff cost included in the price of a beer or a meal is a relatively small part of the overall cost. But Greek wages are low. Prices are high. Where is the money going?
Ah, that's a different matter. Financially sodomising foreign boat owners is the first first chapter in the trademan's handbook, and it has been translated into almost every language. My rigging ended up being £7k in total. For an 11m single masted boat? And they put on a new mast light that you can't change the bulb without dismantling the SS frame around it.
Same company charged €124 for the exact sail repair that cost £30 at Port Edgar.
Not to talk about the rubbish Greek surveyor who charged €750 for a report with a catalogue of errors. (No, Spyros, a deck shower outlet is not a bilge pump).
There certainly is here in Türkiye and it's generally administered by means of a discount on the bill for locals.I wonder if there is a local price and a tourist price in restaurants. Would make sense especially as a response to over tourism.
What would be the consequences of not using Türkiye in Turkey? There certainly is here in Türkiye and it's generally administered by means of a discount on the bill for locals.
God I'd hate to imagine. I mean you've probably seen Midnight Express the same as I have. You probably know as well that the majority of Turkish men are small in stature, and you know what the say about small jockeys and their whips. What would be the consequences of not using Türkiye in Turkey?
They're BIG.What do they say about small jockeys and whips? I never went to those kinds of clubs.
