When the race committee displays flag V with one sound, all boats and official and support vessels shall, if possible, monitor the race committee communication channel for search and rescue instructions

So I can understand the logic, but most times I can think of when this would have been useful (that RTIR where there were about 20 people in the water off the Needles for example) you're well out of sight of the committee boat, and if you're in sight of a committee boat or clubhouse all the time you're probably in a small boat which may not have VHF.

Good to see some of the other changes - no longer any penalty available for having a crew member rescued, support persons can get their competitors DQd for disposing of trash overboard etc.

'The Race Committee' need not perhaps be in the 'start line boat' ?
The fact that V is flying might be relayed to the fleet?
It's a tool in the box.
Might need honing.
