And who is bignick? I'm guessing it's not the same Bignick who used to frequent these forums!
Not sure if there was a Bignick before me, but I’ve had this username for a long time now!

#edit#
Actually, you’ve just reminded me that someone contacted me a while ago, asking if I was the ex-manager of Berthon in Lymington who was also known as Bignick. I’m not, so there are at least two of us. ;-)

He was the only u tube sailor I could be bothered watching. I think he pretty much gave up his plan to sail round UK. Sold his centaur and was looking for a Fisher. Last time I looked at his web site there was nothing new to see. Pity. I quite enjoyed it and didn’t mind an occasional donation.
He might be sailing and posting videos, again I haven’t looked. I don’t really bother with sailing anarchy.
The vid in #2 is of him with a Fisher 25. The engine is dodgy, apparently, hence the outboard.

Many thanks for the replies guys.

I have a Copeland Fox Terrier on Windermere hence my forum name.

Apologies for not been an avid poster on the forums. Many questions I have are generally answered by a quick search.

As a novice and been on Windermere other than the west cost of Scotland where I would like to be, I really can’t answer many questions at this time and enjoy just reading the wealth of expertise others have to offer.

I’m sure I shall have many questions in the future when time permits.

I had no idea of Dylans background outside of the KTL films he has posted for free on YouTube. I have paid the 1$ for a few not available for free and really enjoyed them.

just wanted to know wether anyone knew what he was up to next.

thanks again

Great to know that you’re a real person and not some alter-ego of another forum member, past or present.
A very (belated) warm welcome to the forum.

Where on Windermere are you based? I sailed up there for years and kept my boat a mooring at Whitecross Bay.

PS. Im sure there are Foxterrier owners on here who have solved the wobbly keep issue, if you need advice on it…

Hi, currently on a swinging mooring near Ferry Nab. Not a bad spot and pretty well sheltered. Having the lifting keel helps as we can get close to the shore. Though we are next to the entrance of the posh marina and sometimes get a lot of wake from the boy racers flying out at speed!
Still fixing up the boat rigging and managed to sort the last remaining leak. A past owner of the boat extended the jib track thing and hadn’t done it properly so we had constant leaks from the screw holes.
Cut out the deck and replaced so should be good now.
I’ve not found many posts on the Foxterrier. Would be eager to chat to people who have had one.
Will make a new post with some questions at some point.
Thanks.

You’ve made a good decision - Ferry Nab is the best place on the lake to be based, as it has good access and a decent car park.
You can even get a bacon sarnie and a coffee from Dan in the bun van when you really need one!
I always thought that they should do a season ticket for the car park at a preferential rate for mooring holders though.

I enjoyed the early KTL videos and was happy to throw a few quid his way, especially after his outboard was nicked from his shed.
But as time went by the project lost its way. He was probably five years too early- Patreon would have been exactly what he needed.
The later videos in Scotland felt rushed and he did not make the effort to check the pronunciation of place names, which really grates. He also started to slag off the other YouTubers, including people making better videos than his, which came across as petulant.

I did suggest to him that he could release a new video only after he had reached his required level of donations, which he liked the idea of, but never followed up.

Anyway it would be nice to see him back on the forum, I felt certain people were much too harsh to him.

Some of his early videos taken as the sun rose were excellent. He seemed to catch the moment with nature. Once he reached Scotland I suspect he spent lots of time commuting between home and boat. The Minstrel was in Edinburgh for quite a while as he sorted the Centaur before proceeding further North.

He has a very distinctive voice which carries. Listen to his videos.
He really missed the boat with Youtubers such as La Vaga and Delos earning thousands of us dollars per episode from adverts. The youtube payment system has changed with likes and subscribes being used in the payment system

At the time, some on here seemed to think he was making a fortune. :D

For my sins, I have worked in and around “content” and “influencer” marketing since the early days of YouTube.

Agreed Dylan was slightly early to the game (for cruising / sailing content), however there is a key difference between the handful of sailing videographers who now make enough to live on from YouTube and the ones who don’t. The clue being that the audience is older men.
