Pal of mine let his halyards drop out of mast !!

Why not drop the mast. Take the bottom off the mast to get the carp out more easily. To re- thread the lines I used thick fence wire pushed in from the top to the bottom then put the line in through the side hole and onto the wire before pulling it back out.
 
Well you have to hand it to the guy who went up !!

My pal asked another guy we know who had business installing Sat antennas ... he is one of those who can clamber all over roofs / towers without a whiff of nervousness.

I went to yard to grind off the old bow nav light clip ... Guntars (sat guy) was way up there feeding the lines in ....

All done ! The foam as we suspected - being old had failed and dropped to bottom of mast so mast was basically clear to drop the lines down.

Tomorrows cold and windy - so don't fancy being up over 18m on a lifter !! My jobs can wait.
