Yes Brisbane has some excellent sailing and yes he will pick up bad habits. In particular you probably won't be able to smell him before he gets to the end of your street when he goes home to visit!! He might even get a taste for beer at the right temperature.....4 C.

As to the suitability of Les Patterson to being an Oz ambassador....yyyeeeeccchhhh. Perhaps he could join Rolf Harris in a new career in Pongy Land.

The only sensible reason I have ever heard for anybody wanting to sail single handed was from a Canadian guy who once told me it was great as there was nobody to complain it you started to pong.

You cannot fault that logic.
