Just giving this another nudge.....
Cumbraes have confirmed that the bar will be open on the Friday night - that's Friday the 27th of April for anybody reading the wrong thread:D

I will be offering a quiz - a pound a head to enter - amazing prizes to win!
My daughter is organising a raffle - although at the moment we are a little light on prizes so can I put in another plea for anything suitable that you don't need - if you are bringing something on the night please could you let me know by pm just so that I have an idea of how many prizes we have.
My daughter is also organising a 'bake sale' - she will be bringing a few cupcakes brownies etc to sell at very reasonable rates with a view to augmenting the money raised. If anybody else would like to contribute cakes or even anything savoury to this it would be gratefully received.

I would like to suggest that we split any money raised between the RNLI and McMilllan Nurses as a friend of mine was recently supported by them in her final days.
If anybody feels that this is inappropriate or would prefer a different charity to benefit please let me know.

I look forward to seeing you all again, and meeting more newcomers.

I'm heading back to the UK tomorrow and will pick up a bottle of that which cheers for the raffle.
If I appear a little twitchy, bear with me, I've just spent 34 days offshore.

Another bump.
Pete... I will bring a bottle of the cratur for the raffle. I'll try and make sure the seal is intact.
While I am on, a word of warning for anyone using the visitor moorings at Brodick, one of which I used on Saturday.
Some clever numpty has dropped a bunch of creels between the hippo bouys. Conveniently some of the markers are just below the surface at high water.
Just the thing when trying to approach for a pick-up in fading light.

I was over there today and west coast marine were working at the moorings with their work boat all day. Not all of them out yet so maybe things will be ok now.

Are we all ready for next weekend?

My bottom is washed & re-antifouled, going down early to service the Diesel & start a partial de-store of all things unessential tomorrow. :(
Eamonn ….. how’s your mammoth list of rigging & rebuilding progressing etc?
Pete ….. how are we doing with the prizes for the raffle?
Who is the duty Quizmaster?
Is the CWC pontoon ‘in service’?
How is Jim’s repertoire on the Guitar …. because last time he was doing great for the little time he’d been playing?
Any requests … apart from ‘over the hill & far away?
Is ‘Lady Stormrider’ going to be attending, because I would like to be on the same winning team at least once! ;) :D
I’m still looking for that third prize for the raffle …. so-far I have narrowed it down to the ‘not-me’s’ who have moved / taken it.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the night / day. :)

So far we have about half a dozen prizes offered - I hope that people turn up with more on the night.

Who is the duty Quizmaster?
I have taken on the task of providing a quiz.

I believe so - they have said that the bar will be open.

I believe that she is - she has offered a special prize for the raffle.:)

OG.

If anybody wants to provide anything for either the raffle or the bake sale please let me know. I think that my daughter will be baking cupcakes and brownies - I don't know what else.

As I said in a previous post I would like to split the takings between RNLI and McMillan Nurses.

LS can have my bunk.

LS says she will bring me so she should be there, so long as the bed isn't sold :)

If the bed / bunk / berth is sold LS can have my bunk & I’ll sleep in the dinghy! (anybody’s dinghy I just don’t care!) so long as I can be on her team (just the once!). ;) :D
PS …. Please bring some of that best quality Parkin ….. suffering withdrawal symptoms. :( ;)

I'll be over in Brodick some of this coming week.
What time on Friday do folks start appearing at Cumbrae? I may be single handing- so a bit of space by turning up early might help :)

It's looking cold & Northerly (again) - with a bit of NE on Saturday-Sunday. not really very strong, but enough to sail. Tarbert or Portavadie might look OK for Saturday.

I will probably leave Kip just after lunch so should be there by mid to late afternoon - although being single handed anything could happen. After all having read various recent threads I now know how to tell other people when to tack but have no idea how to actually tack:D
Fortunately my crew arrive on Friday evening, so assuming I can keep them sober:eek:, I should be able to dish out commands all day long on Saturday.

Our plan is to turn up at Cumbrae on Thursday evening, then pop over to Largs on Friday to pick up crew. But except for picking crew up at Largs, we will probably not make final decisions until we see what the weather next week is like!

I'll get Calli to find out Cantonese commands for tacking ;) That should confuse them

Hmm,
If all likely candidates appear, it's going to be cosy on that wee pontoon.
Med style parking anyone  ?

Maybe not if there's any east/ NE in the weather.

I think the most we’ve had at the pontoon at any one time is eighteen (I could be wrong) with space to spare on the basis of a raft.
I intend to sail on the Friday from Troon (lunchtime-ish).
You can give me a hail on the VHF but I will also PM you my mobile number.
Could rendezvous somewhere in the outer area.
I can try (should be able to) find you a sensible & experienced crew member if you require?
OG.
