Well someone can have HB's parking space on the pontoon as she wont be there.
I will put in an appearence at some stage during the evening depending what time I get away from work.
It is my intentions to drive down, stay in the flat fri night and get back to the boatyard and HB on sat.
Now trying to be ready for going down river 2nd wk end in may along with Jim (Emma) and Besula Bob.
I dont think Jim will be there on fri.
I will take a HH vhf and if anyone gets to Millport bay earlier than intended, call me up and I could get a wee sail up to the CWC with you;)

Well that didn't go well.
I sent my quiz MK1 to somebody I used to work with as he is a good barometer of quizzes.
He deemed the MK1 to be too hard so it's back to the drawing board - it will be ready by Friday.
The bake sale will include cupcakes, chocolate brownies and caramel shortcake, all of which will be delicious.

I hope that it didn't contain a question on the correct terms / commands to be used before and during a tack on a dinghy / keelboat / yacht!!

And me! In a Folkboat.

And it looks like sailing there will be :) , the blow over the next couple of days may not decay entirely by the week end!

Tacking all the way up to Cumbrae probably... not too bad I suppose, tacked all the way to Colintraive the last time out :D

Could be one helluva run down from Rhu if the foreacast is accurate!
What's plan 'B' if the pontoons at Cumbrae are untenable?

We've had some pretty wild nights on the pontoon, worst direction you could get is Northerly and that is what is forecast. If it was really bad we could head for Millport but I don't think it will come to that. It does look like it's going to be a cold couple of nights though.

Unless the wind is N or NE and quite strong then inside of the cumbrae pontoon is usually ok.
Best to come late and raft up to some other boat, not Farewell though as it would be just like making fast to the concrete pontoon:D
I would suggest a visitors mooring at Millport bay if the pontoon is untenable and a gentle stroll back to Milli after the revelries.
A preview of what it can be like in a strong southerly.

Firth of Clyde

Friday N 2-3 becoming NE 2
Saturday NE2 - N2- E 2/3
Sunday NE 2/3- E3/4-E2/3

Nothing to get excited about then but, it will be cold!
Have a great time, we are attending a berthholders BBQ so regret we won't be with you this time.

I never trust the forecast on the Clyde when there is any east in it. last year on this very weekend (i remember getting away because of that wedding) The forecast was for East F4. I had 3 reefs in coming back to Ardrossan from Tarbert! Time of day seems to affect it as well. late afternoons off Largs can get particularly nasty if it's Easterly.
I've also seen it forecast for easterlies 3-4 and the water was like a millpond.

On average then, pretty much spot on. :p

Well, Mr and Mrs AntarcticPilot are at least in the correct part of the United Kingdom! We had hoped to go for a mini-cruise before meeting at Cumbrae, but the wind is a bit too much to tempt us down from JWDM, and is giving me a chance to charge a battery that has got pretty flat over the winter.

The forecast I have suggests strong winds until late tomorrow, then light winds (single figure wind-speeds) Friday, saturday and Sunday. It looks like the sun will shine some of the time!

That's tame... Brodick Bay is verging on brown froth this evening :)

My possible crew dipped out, so have a space for a competent person from Ardrossan depart Friday 10AM, back Sunday as weather allows..
If not a busy w/end on the helm...

Looks like I'm out.
I've just been told that the boat's been caught in the NE's. The o/b has fallen off, and is dangling by the lanyard.
The earliest I can get to it is tomorrow morning. If I'm lucky the engine will still be there, but I'll still have to find out what damage has been to the boat from the bouncing about.
So no chance of making Friday.
But if you make Rothesay for Saturday night I might pop along and at least say hello.

I think I would have been tucked up behind the Holy isle if I was over there today.
