<hr width=100% size=1>Do you think a Fleming 55 would look out of place on Windermere?

We bought a set from Maplins. On offer, half price, £34.99. Look good and the performance is excellent. G'day folks.

I got a pair of BT freeway radios from Argos a little while ago, though they were £60 but have rechargable batteries (a must) with charger and hands free ear phone sets and can also work in voice operated mode. Very pleased with them.

some of us work shifts, thus bedtimes vary regularly.

I bought the cheap Motorolas from Argos - twin pack was £34.95. Seem to work OK and well made. Although they are not rechargeable they do take the cheaper AA batteries that apparently last 15 hours on standby and from experience this is probably about right.

Rechargeable\'s

Trip to local model shop ..... (thats Radio Control Models !! ) and a 12V AA charger ....... and some NiCd or LiIon rechargeables .....
Or if you have an inverter / 240V supply on board .... a normal AA battery charger ...... get 2 sets for each radio and then you have back-ups.

Who said you can't have recharges ??

I was in Maplins last week and they had a set complete with charger for about £30 odd . Our normal battery cheapies also from Maplin work very well.

Depends on the length of the piece of string tied between them

I find that it is certainly more than 100 yds - often SHMBO would give shopping orders over the PMRs from boat in Hythe Marina whilst I search in vein for the items in waitrose in the town - must be one third of a mile away but reasonably built up.

Kids love them and ideal for walk or dinghy trip

Up to 3km is claimed but obviously depends on environment/terrain. We can get 3km at sea and clear reception (car to house) at 2km inland.
G'day folks
