I have recently purchased a Canal type pleasure cruiser called a Buckingham 20. Basically its a shell with no interior to speak of and I have no idea what the insides are supposed to look like. Does anybody know where I can get pictures or plans for such a boat as I can find very little info on the web just a few for sale but no direct contact numbers.

Secondly does anyone have any advice on where to start such a project e.g. should I get a surveyor involved, any recomended books, good info sources etc.

All help greatfully received.

If you intend to do the interior yourself, I suggest that in addition to seeing how other canal boats of similar size are completed, it would also be worthwhile to visit caravan showrooms and get inspiration from there. Dont underestimate the amount of work needed from a shell to a complete boat - yes you will save some money, but a large number of projects from this stage never make it into the water. Those that do, either have a strengthened marriage from a family that worked together, or the other extreme!!!!

You can get a review of the '20 from the IPC Copy Service for about £3.50. Where are you located? PM me your email and I'll send you photos of my interior before I started work on it.
