The survey report indicates lots of work needed, plus it has a criminal history, which can only lead to trouble when clearing customs & irritation everywhere you go.
Should not have any problems because it is being sold by HMG and will come with a clean Bill of Sale giving clear title.

Good luck with that if you ever venture into US waters; they never forget a thing, even if there is a tenious connection
Indeed. I know someone who had a single conviction for possession of marijuana when he was 20. Now, in his late 30s, he wanted to go to the US on business. Nope, banned for life. If I'm not mistaken, that conviction couldn't be given as previous if he were charged with something in the UK now.

Biggest item in the survey is probably replacement teak decks. Lots of other items too though, and much of the gear is outdated. Wonder how much it’s worth in good nick? £150k? If you can afford to fix and upgrade it you also need to be able to afford to moor it etc. Approach with caution!

Our 42’ Jen was in a sorry state of repair when we found her 3 years ago - but we paid less than the current bid on this (with no +25%). Suspect someone will get less of a bargain than they think… or a great project for those with time on their hands?!

In a news item it was said that it was bought for €50K in Spain several years ago. Personally I wouldn't pay more than £5K for it and expect to spend around £20K at least to get it somewhere in a serviceable condition.

Out of interest anyone know what it went for.

I see it's at £40K so plus 25% buyer premium and 20% Vat that going to take it to £60K which is more than the guy bought it for (€50,000) so factor in the maintenance, new rigging, new furler, new sails and covers etc etc it's going to be a very expensive bargain.
