\'All At Sea\' - What do you think of it ?

Have to say that the October Issue was a thoroughly good read at 56 pages.

Now that it's going from free to £1.50 will it last ?

Is it a threat to other established titles ?

Yes a great read and more in touch with the yachtsman than any of the IBI group of magazines, which incidentally, fob us off with elaborate adverts disguised as articles. In my view, lazy journalism, but most yachties can see through these glossy mags and yearn for something more down to earth, like "All At Sea". Take hint "Yachting Monthly". Incidentally Germany's top selling yachting mag is in the format of a sort of newspaper, full of interesting articles.

It's Brittish, I don't know what that hattted A was doing in front of Vic's £ sign, but It's available at all the chandlers near me, and at the marina.
I like it, but didn't realise that they've started charging. Oh well.

Re: \'All At Sea\' - no longer free?

All At Sea is a very good read - its British - and it isn't necessarily the case that its going to cost you. There are subscription flyers in the current edition - it will cost £1.50 per month to get it sent by post - good value, I think. I have heard that it is also going to be sold by newsagents and supermarkets inland, but will still be available free at chandlers, clubs etc. on the coast. Time will tell.....But All at Sea is obviously filling a gap and doing well, so I am sure it will carry on.

In response to needing a bit more info :-

It's a tabloid newsprint format with a fair bit of colour. Sorry about the pound sign ( soon to be the Euro no doubt ) but in global sailor terms it costs about the same as a decent pint of Bitter ( outside of the Solent that is ! - but read the other threads as we may still get it for free in places)

At the moment it has an excellent mix of everything boaty and does not speak up or down to anybody nomatter if they are power, sail or racing enthusiasts.

I have no attachment other than I like sailing and have been involved in free newspaper distribution for some years.

Launching anything new these days takes alot of bottle and I wish them well. As with all things new, keeping the momentum going may well be the key.
