Well very sorry to have to OUT this , but am being prompted by BYW to respond to my abscence from these discussions , I feel that I should state why and give my views on the EDITING and Management of this tired place

I had a post rejected a while back , on a matter which I understand was deleted and made forbidden to discuss or refer to

The issue that I am refering to was (of course) the sinking and loss of life of the crew and passengers of a Yacht with reputed to be the tallest Mast known to yachtsmen

The whole episode was I think the MOST important issue for a long time to discuss and understand , with certain SAFETY issues that were fairly basic to Yachting and out to have been understood by all on board this Yacht

BY removing the discussions, to await any Legal or official report just shows how 'out of touch' the ADMIN are on here ; Official reports rarel;y aproportion any blame , so us on here will almost learn nothing of any use , leaving us to apportion blame ourselves ; Likewise it will unessarily left in the DARK for quite some time , when there are Newcommers who should at best be aquainted to the mistakes made by those 'on board' soonest rather than wait until it all becomes not important , leaving the best advice to be drifting off into the atmosphere ;

Whilst what should be the 'best advice' available get lost and relatively unimportant and this FORUM relagated to insignificant

Sorry but good bye , wallow in your mediocraty

There are many ways of looking at that, and similar, scenarios, and if the mods see fit to close the thread, I would just leave it at that. Also, I find the MAIB reports usually comprehensive and informative even though, as you say, they do not seek to apportion blame. Maybe an inquiry in Italy will have a different slant on the matter.
I'd rather you stayed but if you must go, well, all the best..

Sorry to see you go Captain.

There is a long running thread on Sailing Anarchy covering the issue. Though some of the inmates are madder than us and a number of the comments are borderline crackers.
All the best

I don’t disagree with the sentiment but I won’t Miss the random Capitals on all of the Posts. Funny how weird habits and grammar make some posts hard to read. Or is that just me.

There was so much unpleasant abuse on the SA forum (with admittedly some well informed and interesting comment) that I gave up on it some time ago.
Sorry to see you leave us Cap’n.

So the OP has the hump because the admin felt it prudent to block the post. Certainly something very likely on a forum like this; when the subject is all based on idle supposition. All on a matter of little relevance to the proud newbie with his 22ft westerly etc
Hence, the OP has decided to sulk, & walk away
Nobody noticed he had gone & he felt so lonely that he has had to make a post with a little pointless grizzle of no consequence.
Meanwhile the forum is still going strong.
So who is the loser here. The forum, or the Op for not having the sense to accept that the admin rule & carry on.

That seems a very uncharitable post and rather ungentlemanly.

Incidentally the proud newbies who make a single enquiry and never respond to others suggestions, sometimes because we have correctly told them that it will cost to restore some worn out bargain, are not the mainstay of the forum.

The mainstay are those who have learned enough to know they need to know more.

Popeye was informative

Or sometimes because our esteemed and learned members take the micky as happened in the converted lifeboat thread.

But was I right?
I know instances of club members leaving because they did not like the comment made by another member. When I took this up with a member I asked what they had achieved as they had been member for years & resigning had only hurt themselves. It had made them the loser.
When in Grimsby I was in the clubhouse & a committee meeting was in progress & a committee member had said she had intended to resign over comments by another member but as she had just paid here membership she would wait until the year was out then not renew. How stupid is that?
One sees it all the time. In stead of just working round it & moving on they move into sulk mode blaming the world & becoming the loser.
As I said the OP needs to grow a pair & stop whining. I could not give a stuff how he feels & the posts after his do not actually reflect much sympathy with him either, Other than "goodbye"

I think that 'the problem' is that from time to time one member or another feels a need to vent their frustration following some action or other by the Mods or some perceived slight by another forumite, yet there is no outlet for this frustration within the YBW forums, save for flouncing, that does not eventually lead towards a ban.

I propose a new, separate forum (YBW3?), solely for the purpose of aggrieved YBW forumites to sound off about the injustice of it all. ;)

I see your YBW3 and raise you a YBW4 for celebrating the departure of certain forumites ;);).

According to a friend who is a USA citizen, cursive writing is no longer taught in Tennessee.

i don't think it is taught anywhere in the USA anymore.., okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but it's not taught many places.

NYC just released results of a city-wide test of high school students; only about 46% were at grade level in mathematics.., and "grade level" standard has been lowered over the years.

In that environment, teaching cursive seems like a bit of a luxury.
