Almost everyone who has ever posted here about going liveaboard has had qualms.

You do need more experience or crew before taking on your boat for extended voyages, but don't let it hold you back. You can get both experience and crew.

and your blog is one of the most enjoyable on the internet. Not many put their inner selves so publicly on view, and that alone takes great courage

I kind of understand your anxiety, the fear of leaving a life of on land, for a life on water, and essentially the unknown, my only regret was ever to get off at the other side.

I think we'll only ever regret the things we don't do in life.

Try it, if it doesnt work, then flog the boat. If you sell 1st, you may spend the rest of your life thinking 'what if?'

In terms of practicality, don't start out in a blaze of glory, but take a few small steps, you can sail the boat, thats been proven, but get to know her 1st.

Before a glorious Ocean crossing, realise her limitations (and yours) get to know her foibles and gripes, in short personalise and treat her like a friend, if you love her, she'll look after you. You're not her Mistress and she's not yours.

Small world. My ex is currently on that boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was very easy to leave me and merely hop on Tom's boat. His dream continued but it's not his own. It could have been our dream, on our boat. But he's on Tom's instead.
Yes, Tom is an amazing guy. Only 25 and has come so far with his dream.
Gosh, small world. Bloody small world.

In fact, I contacted Tom before I ever met my ex. Was hoping to stay on his boat whilst it was in Hong kong. Then I met my ex over the net, turned out he knew Tom, we fell in love, he moved to Japan, I bought us a boat for an extended, Tom-style cruising dream, my darling left me and blah blah blah.

And all the above is why I am so screwed up and hovering on sinking myself with the boat. Because the boat was bought for two, was bought for me and my darling and it was a dream of mine and though folks say 'sell her then', even if I sell, I still have the pain of losing the man who I thought I'd sail the oceans with. Still, there are plenty more women like me out there for him to meet and sail with. Not like he lost out or anything. We are a pound a penny.

There again, it's a very good job codstewart (why that name?) didn't bother wasting money on the shrink before kingston caused her this relapse of several months, really, innit?

CodStewart was a pun on Rod Stewart. Pathetic really. Like me. Yeah, that bag would be handy. Only trouble is, I find it hard to breathe when I put it on my head.
I might try my friend's way of attempting to off herself. She stuck her head under the double-sized mattress on her bed. But it really hurt as her head got pushed onto the hard base, so she gave up.
Tee hee.

totally off the point. I read that as tongue in cheek. Somehow I thought Codstewart also read it as such - but then you never know as text can easily be misunderstood.
