How to get from Ireland to Greece (sailing) on a budget (Small)

We sailed our 32ft cutter from S. England to the Ionian over 2 years. One summer holiday we did a fabulous cruise down the W. coast of France and left the boat in the Bassin Flot in Bordeaux over winter. This was cheap, extremely interesting and we had a French liveaboard keeping an eye on our...

    Canal Du Midi

we did the canal du midi in april a few years ago with 5ft draught. We did bump the bottom a few times on tree roots but no problem if you keep in the middle. A Norwegian guy came the other way from Agde with 6ft but he was pushing it.

    GRACE 1909

Hi, not sure if it's the same Grace but I remember a white sloop who was lived on in the 70s by a woman called Kathy. She had a pile mooring off the Jolly Sailor in Bursledon. Tom Richardson of the Elephant Boatyard might know what happened to the boat. Good luck

Downloading my licence from OFCOM - help please.

It's taken me since March to finally get issued with an MMSI number for our new ship's radio. No matter what I did IE7 wouldn't let me download my amended licence but Firefox no probs. Getting through on the phone is also a nightmare - yesterday whole polace closed for 'an all colleague event'...

    12v fan

We've got Caframo fans over each bunk and are v. pleased. Low draw, not noisy and can be fixed or portable. I bought another one on the net last year for £22 from a firm at Hamble.

Cheapest /least time to get to Preveza from Auchterarder viaGlasgow

Sailing Holidays have flights £115 one way Gatwick to Preveza 24th June. Also bus from Athens is ok but quicker to go to Levkas and get a taxi to Preveza. It's an airconditioned coach and you get a refreshment break. Good luck with it.

    Rope/shoe baskets

Lots of Italian yachts have nice wicker baskets on the stern to store shoes/ropes etc. I can't seem to find anything like that in England. Any ideas?

    Cooking

We keep our boat in the Ionian and decided we needed space rather than an oven so got a Remoska - a Czech electric oven, low power, we can run it from our generator or shore power when we have it. It does everything a convential oven would do and can be on deck, ashore etc. Lakeland Co. sells...

    UK or Med

If you do buy in UK we took your 32ft yacht to the med via a wonderful West France coast cruise, left boat in Bordeuax for winter then canal du midi to Agde at easter, before it's too crowded and more water. We then sailed on to Greece and have left the boat there. <hr width=100% size=1>
