Interesting you had that experience too, it really ticked my wife off. I would have expected a more interested attitude by many businesses exhibiting there on the very first day.

    SIBS

Been to the show today and was shocked to how much it has shrunk. About a third was 'missing' over all & the most surprising was the decrease in volume of on the water boats - about 25% less according to one sales person from Ancaster, also, there is only one hall now & no nice line up of sail...

    HELP - Which Hamble marina

Totally agree with Paul's comment on the philosophy of extortion by the major players. We thought we'd found the ideal home for the boat after trying most of them only to be stiffed by an almost £1200 increase for the coming season. As has been said many times by many people - we are not all...

    Boat polishing...

I've been quoted £400 plus materials plus vat for a 36ft boat. Does that sound about right for south coast?

    Hard antifoul

We have been using this too for 3 years now in the solent and have found it really good & excellent value. Like most, I suspect it somewhat depends on the area you boat/berth, but after a wash off it stands up well to AF's more expensive.

Why have the Big 3 abandoned the "ordinary" man

But isn't there a greater market for small boats to use on lakes in the US? Surely most of the UK market is coastal waters and channel hopping. There are some very good observations in this thread and perhaps the situation will eventually revive the used boat market, albeit at probably...

    feel i am being had

Exactly. You are in a 12 month agreement and paying monthly, as I do. Why don't people read the post and use their brain before making pointless comments! It would be better if in a 12 month agreement there were break clauses, as you get in letting arrangements over a period, especially as some...

    MDL Price rise for 2016

It would be nice to see some incentives for loyalty in some way perhaps, other than the usual discount for fees all up front, as many of us haven't got the 5k or so to part with in one hit. I think that marina companies could have been a little more inventive to keep customers over the last few...

Game Changing 42 ft Flybridge Concept? Opinions appreciated!

Interesting concept certainly. I had a single engine boat for many years (aquador 32) which was fine but the main point really was that the engine - yanmar 6LY STE - which is a bog standard engine so if it will run it will get you home - as it were. So what engine choice or options would be...

    Fuel Consumption

Sounds like a 'first boat' question.

    Synthetic teak replacement

I would point out that this person is not who did the job on our boat & I am only stating that I am extremely pleased with the work that Darren did as his own business. I'm not in favour of my threads being hijacked.

    Synthetic teak replacement

Yes, it was. We're well happy & feel free to pop down & have another look if you like.

    Synthetic teak replacement

Probably, but at least it won't be a rip off :-)

    Synthetic teak replacement

Hi, yes this is the same company & my first impression is really good. Excellent attention to detail, do exactly what you want/need & don't rip us off. We are all aware of the general marine business attitude that all boat owners are therefore wealthy & can pay silly money for average work. I...
