Re: To which I add...

ahh but Steve101 wasn't a sailor at the time... just in the process of buying a boat.. or so he said...

Strikes me that a newbie forum for those who haven't got much of a clue about boats and where they can ask tonnes of daft questions and get any juvenile behaviour out of their system might be an idea.

Newbie forum

Hiya newbies. Are you new to boats - and new to chat forums too? If so, feel free to make an utter nerk of yourself on latest ybw newbie forum. Here's some great questions to start you off:

1. charts/lifejackets/ropes/depthsounders - do i really need them?

2. Why are boats so expensive? Whereas other things - such as doughnuts - are very cheap?

3. I have bought a boat but I have nowhere to put it. Also, my wife hates boats. Any ideas?

4. I was driving my boat around and noticed some awkwardly placed metal bucket-shaped things in the water, some of them red, others green ,other yellow and black. It seemed very dangerous. Has anyone else noticed these?

5. I am considering a new 35 foot boat. Can anyone recommend a suitable helicopter landing pad that i can fix to the foredeck?

6. Phew, I've just bought a new 4.5 metre RIB, and I'm so glad to have joined the ranks of very serious oceanfaring boaters, much better than those people on ribnet with their "boats" that were all bought from a petrol station. I am considering a voyage across the solent. Any ideas?

7. Fancy a fight? Eh? Well, do you?

and so on...

Re: Welcome back...

...it hasn't been the same on here, what with everyone getting all unnecessary about who's saying what to whom (for some reason we're not allowed to be mean to the newbies any more). Can we please have a return to acerbic wit and the occasional nugget of useful advice?

Re: acerbically witty information

1. Change your forum name as often as possible, to distance yourself from earlier ramblings that might annoy others.

2. If playing for Arsenal Football club, make sure that you are French. If you are not French, pronounce your name with a froggie accent, in the style of "Francois Jeffair" so ensuring team selection.

3. Don't take any photographs of boats in Corsica: these take at least 9 months to develop.

Re: Outed!

The Powers That Be asked me to post under official name...so I have been "outed" by the 21st Floor.

And what the hell are you doing arsing around on the Exe in the dark? Are you mad? It's bad enough in broad daylight.

Welcome Tom - we welcome you as a newbie /forums/images/icons/wink.gif to the forum with only 3 posts.

I'm sure you will find the standard of both sweet and sour comments to your liking and if you wish to ask any boating question I'm sure you'll get all the help you require.

p.s. Fancy doing an article on Fairline Holidays ??? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

1. Learned this from the master of it.

2. Are you implying that he's just some Scouse scally, and not really a proper Artilleur? Sacre bleu!

3. V difficult to get these things done quickly (especially if you're a useless, forgetful idiot).
