I was quite interested in this conundrum. Could someone look up the 'official' answer (from YM Jan 2005) for me please?

The answer was lower the main 'cos it doesn't need you going forward, more to hold onto and boat probably goes better under jib alone than main alone .... unless you've been there before and know otherwise.
