For a couple of months now I have been hosting workshop manuals for both variants of alternator as fitted to the Yanmar GM series (maybe fitted to other engines I don't know).

These are the Hitachi units. Anyway, I am going to need the space soon so need to take them down. They are both 1.4Mb each, that is the 35A unit and the 55A unit. I have scanned them and this was the smallest size that kept the information clear. They are in PDF format so everyone should be able to read / print them off.

If you would like a copy of either or both please download them over the next 30 days. As they are large, best right click on the links below and 'save target as'. The links will open the PDF documents immediately otherwise.

As I think many would like these and people are currently off cruising, would people be so kind as to bump this post occasionally to keep it on page 1

Thanks. Very useful. I wish I'd had that info before I fitted my Aardvark unit this year.

Re: yanmar alternators - and other yanmar tips!

Thanks, you may also be interested to know that somone is selling copies of the Yanmar workshop manual on CD, on ebay for £5 each.

No connection, just thought it maybe relevent to those reading this thread.

Oh and my final Yanmar tip: Cant get the 26mm anode bolts out the block, me neither, until I got a 12v impact driver. £30 in machine mart, apparently also now in makro for £15. It got them out in 30 secs, very useful :)

After rebuilding my alternator 3 times at 60/80 pounds a time I threw it away and fitted one from a scrapped jap.car. Since then no problem.

Re: yanmar alternators - and other yanmar tips!

Are these Yanmar manuals the same as the ones supplied with your engine(pretty thin and basic) or are they real detailed full workshop manuals ?

They are from the service manual, I scanned them for someone and left them hosted on my site. It is an A4 ring binder of around 400 odd sheets. The pages here are only concerning the alternator, rebuild and repair inc. cct diags.

The manual is nearly worth its wieght in gold IMO.

Jools, hope you don't mind, I have some spare space and have put the manuals up here.

If anyone has any other manuals they are willing to share, I am more than happy to host them or provide links.

cheers, I was going to ask if someone would like to host them,

Any requests for sections to be printed, rather than the whole thing, I will be happy to help.
