Wiring help please?

Hello, I’m new to boating. Not great at electrics. Could someone help me out?



I have two batteries (200ah) total which I will connect together with a smart isolator in between and a power isolator separately (to turn it all off). I have 800w of solar going to a controller that then connects to the batteries, from the batteries I need to connect two separate inverters I have (one for each side of the boat). I also need to hook up a fuse panel for 12v lighting etc and back to a switch board I have.

my question is, how do I split to two separate inverters and also to a fuse panel. And lastly do I need mcb’s to stop a fire etc and where?

Get yourself a used copy of the 12v bible - it's not up to speed on the most modern kit, but the principles, cable sizing, etc are not subject to fashion and are worth absorbing.

As @Stemar , I too won't venture an opinion on specifics other than querying why you are trying to treat the batteries together for charging but separately for use? Simply paralleling them is vastly simpler than what you propose.

You will not need MCB (circuit breaker on th 240vAC side of the inverters simply becuase they will nto be able provide the current needed for an over load. ie the inverter will shut down. 2 inverters are your choice but they can both be run from the same 12v DC source. Just need short robust 12v DC wiring due to high current.
You can not normally connect the outputs 240vAC from each inverter together to double power output. The outputs must be in phase. it is conceivable that the inverters have a facility to connect together in phase. But if they get out of phase you have big troubles. (smoking inverters) ol'will

This is incorrect and dangerous advice, of course an inverter can provide the current to overload a circuit. The AC side of fixed installation inverters should be connected to consumer units with RCD and MCBs, same as any other AC source.

How and why are you fitting two inverters ? What make and models are they ?
