RIP
Conundrums and thinking after my latest sinking do, the demise of red diesel and not least, the 310 miles to Plymouth. I am contemplating having the boat transported to Windermere, Funny thing is, this is where she started life, nearly 20 years ago.
I've thought about Wales, kept the last boat there in Pwllheli?
But most places are crap, or full, or at any rate, five or more quid a mile, seems ludicrous for some one retired.
I'm thinking, as I used to boat on Windermere, maybe 25
years ago. And boats being worth about twice there, than anywhere else.
It might be time, to bring the boat closer to home.
Believe it or not. Mooring on Windermere is about 5 grand a year, so not a cheap option.
It's hardly going to be a challenge to me, having cruised, Wales, Bristol channel, Ireland, Scotland. South Coast, CI's and Brittany.
Maybe I'm getting old.
I suppose what I want, is to cruise round Windermere, stopping at little pubs, then on again to another. Not really interested in the posh marina bar. Windermere makes sense, as it's about half an hour from home. The speed limit is a bonus, so can never use more than a few gallon of juice, Cant do 8 knots on the sea, with out wiggly wobbly. But can on Winderemere.
It's a bit of a joke, I know.
Can some one give me some redeeming features. I left the place years ago, and learned about the sea.
So. 310 miles is to far, but fairly quick driving. Wales, less miles. but about the same time. Scotland, bit less miles, but again, not much in it in hours.
There is no finer place to keep a boat, than Plymouth. But I happen to live in Lancashire. Northish at that.
So. Excepting the fact, that I'm nearly never going to be able to moor to a pontoon (jetty) True or fauls??
It's anchor and dinghy. ?? Ok but do locals pop the dinghy. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I'm nogt playing with the five six quid a gallon. You tell me when I'll die.
