I bought this from a larger 42 foot cruising boat a good few years ago thinking I might use it, but never got around to finding out how. It seemed a bargain at the time. Would it do a cruising chute on a Fulmar 3/4 rig? Or what?
One of the few instances where no reply! So I contacted Schaefer who said:
"Good question. The 650 is really designed to work with a tighter luff. You can try to see if it would work with an asymmetrical spinnaker but do it on a very light air day in case it doesn't work. You might also try to tighten the halyard a bit when furling.
If you try it, please let me know how it works!"
I don't think I will try it. It is clearly for a Code 0 and I don't need one of those. I will put it up on the For Sale section and think about hoisting the cruising chute some other way.
