The open nature of the internet means that any loony can join in. The secret is to ignore most of them. People like Nigel Charlesworth are easy to ignore (especially if his posts were submitted in his "happy hour", between about 1700 and 0400), although even he has had to resort to a pseudonym to get his posts read on the BYM board. People like Humperdinck are difficult to gauge; after all, he was a YM contributor, so I'm very surprised he's so openly trying to take the p**s out of the YM forum.
But at the end of the day, the YBW forums are very effective, and very open. The moderation by Kim Hollamby (or "kimbo-bimbo" as Nigel Charlesworth calls him on BYM) is outstandingly fair. In contrast, the BYM forum is populated by a tiny clique of people, and most of the posts seem to be started by the owner.
Quite right, just ignore and eventually they will get the message.
My point from my earlier post "bored now" is that the posts that are put there by people like NigeCh are purely to provoke. I doubt that much of it is really meant or even believed by the poster, if it is then they have a problem which we cannot really help with.
I am not singling him out for criticism but his post contained a, firstly, wrong in law statement, and secondly unfair comment about the moderators.
However that sort of post is put there to provoke reaction and I am quite sure that their peverse satisfaction comes from seeing people discuss it on the forum. They load bullets and we then fire them.
The mindset of people like that usually follows the pattern that they make a comment which they know is incorrect but then sit back and snoigger while people thrash out the rights and wrongs of a crass statement.
I use both sites, they both serve different purposes. If people do not like moderation on a particular site then the answer is surprisingly simple......do not go there.
I use both BB's, both meaning Scuttlebut and BYM and other than a few days ago when we were given a short opportunity to edit our own Names and Titles I have never seen NigeCh use a pseudonym certainly not to cause trouble or mislead, perhaps you could enlighten me as to when he did and by what name.
