What made you want to go and learn more,
A few years ago my farther brought a 42ft motor cruiser and informed me that I was to crew and learn to drive it as my Little sister has been known to get car sick while driving her car. My Kids were at school by then so Of course as I had nothing to do!!! I would be free.
So I duly turned up at the marina said OOHH AR AR and got on the boat, she seemed enormous. Having worked as a summer job pulling people off lee shores in a dories, [they were windsurfing] on a large Pond. I had a basic idea of what to do.
So off we set. We got out the marina [in Poole harbour] and started to motor down the channel. I turned to my farther and said “How do you know were to go?”
He said “stay between the red and green markers” I said [blond moment here} “WHY” “other wise you mite not have enough water and run aground” said my ever patient Farther.
Well that was it for me, I enrolled at the Nearest Day skipper Theory class and my poor ever patient instructor nearly feel over board when after 10 min into my first boat handling lesson , I turned round to him and said “ I want to teach this” and I have never stopped learning since.
Ps I bumped into him at the London boat show last year and he said to me “You got their then!!” Must have done something, for him to remember me.
