Its Saturday afternoon and its raining, cold and dull./forums/images/icons/frown.gif So apart from being on here what do you do on a day like this./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

And what would you rather be doing, if you had the choise and money to do it. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Would you be in sunny climets, [ suncoast whats it like where you are today] /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Where the scenery can be magnificent even on days like this.[Alistiarr look a little bit north from you]/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Out on the water, where it will be peace full as no one but you would go out on a day like today.[ where Solataire hope to be]/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

A good day to daydream of places you want to visite and those you have already. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Time to make plans for next years boating, I think./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

So have a think

Put together passage plans! Partcularly for planned night excursion next week. Store in Excel format and draw up as appropriate. Laminate most used routes - Poole, Weymouth etc. Save having to do it when the season starts! Mind you mine never ends/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
What would I rather be doing right now? Sitting on a gin palace in Sydney Harbour with two fingers in the air completed blatted through too much Bollie after having seen England win the World Cup/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Went out bagging a few brace of pheasant after the rugby. Excellent wander over the hills and through the woods.

This Saturday, in my workshop making new slats for my sunpad / 2nd bed. Next Saturday, fitting same to boat and if the weather is OK, taking her round to Pwllheli (12miles) to fill up with gas. Then back to her winter mooring and into the yacht club for a few drinks and a steak & chips.

Season?? What's one of those then??

....nimphamaniatic......

Is this some strange sort of northern manifestation of the genre or are you just so excoited by the thought that your verbal dexterity has deserted you?

(think I know what you mean though..../forums/images/icons/smile.gif )

having taken the engines out of Hermees I have spent the day, the same as many others, in the workshop puuting the first engine back together after replacing all the gaskets and seals, and giving it a coat of primer. One nearly down, one to go....
am also replacing the enormous gearboxes with more suitable ones, sourcing parts on the internet and driving my wife and daughter mad by mumbling about Perkins 4108 every time they want me to do something other than engines!

Re: Enjoying the solitude

Of empty roads and listening to danbrits engine.
First bonus was a free life jacket trapped to the mooring steps :)
As the tide was so low I got stuck into sorting out the pilons, two of em were moving about at high tide. I would have liked to weld brackets to hold them permantely in place but I cant get used to that tingle buzz when welding in the rain so chickened out
The only bad thing was the chippy was closed so couldn't get scoff on the way home.
Tomorrow it's back to sanblasting the wooden beam's in the front room, what a poxy job !!!

Cheers
Mick

I had my offer on a Sealine F43 accepted (and in the middle of the rugby too). Gotta sort out survey and the like now. Anyone got any recommendations on a good surveyor in the Solent area?

For once, I would have settled for a cold rainy day.
Out here on the rig in Angola we have spent the day pulling in new three phase power cables for the system we are installing. At 35 degrees and no shade we have been sweating cobblers! The one good thing is that we decided to have a couple of hours break this morning and found the rugby on South African Satellite supersports 1 - great game, kept everyone on the edge of their seats till the last few seconds.
Then it was back out from the airconned TV lounge into the midday sun and pull more cable. The bad news was having to work on till 2000 to make up for the long break.

What I would have done is go down the Barmy Arms to watch the rugby, immediately gone on the lash at the final whistle and probably been well into my Duncan Disorderly stage by now.

As it was, I watched first half and a bit on tv then listened to the end on radio whilst driving round the M25 on way to clients in deepest Essex. Popped into my old yacht club when I'd finished just in time to see the Draon fleet coming in at the end of racing in the pouring rain. Met all my old mates who I hadn't seen since I was last there 3 years ago. Got seriously tempted to get into raggie racing again next season. Brilliant day apart from the weather. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Eat some free bananas

Swmbo decided to use Tesco.com for the shopping and ordered 7 bananas as part of her order which arrived today. But there seemed to be rather more bananas than just the seven. She then wondered if they had delivered 7 KILOS of bananas but close inspection reveals that each bag weighs 1.75 kilos, and there are seven bags. We have decided that it would be a bit much to go out for lunch, and so far I have eaten 6 bananas, with only about 140 to go. I think she managed to get a credit for most of the bananas, which makes tesco.com a top recommendation, especially if you like bananas.

Monkey business

Let us know what the record is for number of bananas eaten in one day, and whether your arms get longer and hairier.
