I was extremely foolish and left my avon dinghy on the dinghy dock too long over the winter. When retrieved, one of the sponsons had deflated about 50% and I noticed there was water sloshing about inside. Back home I re-inflated and it holds air perfectly.
So, how do I got about removing the water from the sponson? Do I have to go through the valve with some kind of pump with a suitable size hose ?

Gravity is your friend. You'll have to hang/prop up the dinghy so that the valve for that compartment is at the bottom. With the valve locked open, the water will run out.
