I’ve been waiting for someone else to ask but ……..how much for the ECU non trade?
1. I was on the thread somewhere a few moths back. I bought and ECU but they ordered the wrong one. All the while I new if I swapped ECU's the port engine would run. Funny the starboard engine would run most of the time. I permanently swapped the ECU's and swapped the connectors for the transmissions so props would turn right. I have been running the boat and I go out for small jaunts but I do get on top of the water.
2. After going out about 5 times I said I bet this thing will run if I switch them back. I swapped back and the engine disengages the starter before it cranks. Swap them back again and I am still driving it.
a. I tried to calibrate the controls but it didnt like it and I am a little fuzzy on the wording in the book.
b. Now prior to the first permanent swap the Vodia machine showed bad ground but the technician works on larger boats and said they do not chase wire on personal yachts.
c. When I swapped back after #2 a technician with a vodia came out and did not have any error codes or any codes on the dash... WTF?
3. The volvo dealer didnt want to calibrate my EDC's stated they can sometimes not calibrate and stay that way. I need to calibrate because engine behavior is rough when shifting and getting engine sync.

Hello.
I cannot get around all you explain.
But one thing is very important.
Every time you get problem you must push diagnostic button and read error code. Then share info here.
Then we can help you.
Ok...?

And do not turn ignition off before activate diagnostic button. If you turn off ignition Key, all faults are delitet on 74and 75 engines ..also on kad 44b, c and kad 300 engines.

Poor ECU plug connections. Unplugging when you changed them over helped make a better connection.
Make sure all the connectors are clean and tight

When I swap them back it won't run i have played with connections and had volvo come out with vodia machine and got a ground error before when original port ecu was on port side. Played with wires under dash have replaced ignition switch. So swapped port to star ecu engine runs and no vodia errors. TAMD-73-P

No I did not have a technician with vodia. I never get a dash error when the engine doesnt start under the starter disengagement. I am having difficulty getting volvo techs in Kemah texas. Elite diesel guys are dicks and they wont work on my boat.

Interesting to hear.
EDC 1 ecu's are compatible with 12 and 24 volt system in configuration to the boat that they are connected to.
Ecu need minimum 8- 9 volt to work. Some edc units work below 8 volt down to perhaps 7 volt. I belive you have a issue with low volt at ecu when cranking engine. Those big tamd engines need alot of amp's from battery when starter motor is engaged. I belive you have 2 issues here. One is when cranking engine, voltage drop below working range of that ecu. Other engine may not drop voltage same amount.
So when you mix 2 ecu's with one that keep alive with only 7 volt with the other than need 8 volt you maybe have the answer why they both work if like you say when interchanged ecu's.
Check voltage with multimeter at Main relay output when cranking engine, and compare to other engine doing same measurement. Bad battery and to small cables to engine have big result to volt at ecu. In a 24 volt system, ecu have a lot of volts to deal with, and would not shut down like in a 12 volt system

Any news?
I no not yet i haven't been able to check it out and not realy sure where said relay is. But I have taken boat out several times just down the way to swim off of. Yesterday the engine started surging when i came back in and parked in the slip. It was idling for twenty minutes of so when it started acting up. Questionable ecu now on starboard engine.

Somewhat new to the thread: I am still trying to purchase 2 new EDC's for my TAMD- 73P engines. My dealer told me they were supposed to be available the beginning of July 2022, but still nothing. I essentially read this entire thread from the very beginning with Mike's opening. Me port engine went down in August of 202. Luckily I connected with a club Sea Ray forum member that sold me his spare. Yet, I still kept an open order for a new EDC. (Part 3826995). I have an order on file with 2 different vendors just to ne sure I get them.

Yesterday my stbd. started acting up. The engine starts fine, no fault codes but the idle is just over 1,000 RPM. It should be at 640 RPM. Needless to say, putting it into gear creates a LOUD klunk with the transmission. So we sat at the dock all day trying to figure out WTF?? My VP Mechanic said "Huh, I have never seen or heard of that before". GREAT, just my luck! Volvo Paul, any ideas??

If they are available where can i get them? I actually have my boat sold and waiting on the new one, but want to make sure this is solved before going any further. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Bill - I have seet you a PM with the contacts that eventually sorted out my issues and am appalled to hear that there are still no supplies available.
This is not what I was told would happen.

PeteM - I suspect you will be waiting a long time unless you hound them for a response.

I dare not add up the time I spent on this issue for nothing other than knowing I was fighting for the thousands of Volvo owning underdogs. (Underdogs is Volvo speak for worldwide customer base I think);)
