On 61a’s. Very easy to fit and gave me more room by getting shot of the huge air boxes.
Looks cool too!

Having the 63ps I am interested to see where this goes.
I begrudge paying 50 odd for what is essentially a piece of foam held in with some rubber strips
On the 63 the air intake is set up to take air flowing past the crankcase breather to recycle the oil fog from the engine crankcase breathing.
I wonder what difference this additional oil would do to the already oil soaked K & N filter.
On my 61s K & N supplied the plate filters same as the originals which dropped straight into the existing air box
Probably block it even more then cause your engine to black smoke .Having the 63ps I am interested to see where this goes.

You cannot just use any piece of foam it has to be the correct density.
The foam air filter on the 63p's I had were washable. No cost. Whether they were original or not I now am not too sure after reading this thread. Still all worked fine in the 8 years I had the boat.
Actually they rely upon the oil as the fibres are very coarse and upon a visual inspection they would appear to have no to very little filtration ability, but you need to understand how they work. Their fibres are very coarse for a reason and that is movement, as air passes through them the fibres move at high speeds and the moving fibres catch particles as they pass through them and actually give a better filtration than a straight foam or paper/cloth composite filter, you cannot over oil them as they have maximum oil absorbtion to work correctly and cannot absorb more than their maximum amount of oil the fibers can absorb.
Previous owner of my boat with TAMD41p installed one of these from Halfords. I’m currently debating reinstalling the original air box.Are there versions of the K&N for the TAMD41s? I like the idea of reuse even from an environmental perspective.
