I have two elderly Volvo AQ125Bs. It's time to change the fuel filters. I think they were last changed sometime last century. One could even be the original filter when the boat was built 40 years ago as it is in a sod of a location and is an OEM Volvo jobby. Never mind. Lots of swearing usually works.
They are the CAV style with delphi style 296 cartridges.

So question, the engines are carburettors with an engine driven mechanical fuel pumps. How do you/ I bleed the air out without a lot of engine cranking???? Is there a simple trick to get the air out quickly?
Thanks.

seems like this is a petrol engine ..no need to bleed air out-could be couple of squirts of "start you bastard"down the carb.. or something similar and it should burst into life.

As above. No need to bleed system as you would with a diesel. But if you have to crank the engines over for long in order to fill the filter bowls, you might consider taking out the spark plugs first. Without the resistance caused by compression, the starters and batteries will find it easier.

I don't know your engine, but is it possible to pre-fill the filters before firting them? Obviously dependent on orientation.
Should help reduce cranking.
