Just a quickie - On board fixed VHF wants to call the portable in the dingy - say on pre agreed ch 69 - what do you call it?

Add Alpha to your vessel's name, ie this is Mica calling Mica Alpha.

Don't forget it is illegal to call anyone using your VHF once they have stepped ashore.

Surely you would agree on something sensible and easy to say ..... and anyway there is no restriction on what you use as name as long as it is not offensive, leads to confusion or is already in use by another and liable to total cock-up !
I normally use the name of the person entrusted with my electronic portable gem .....
It also is largely acedemic if you pick a channel that is quite free of traffic ...... difficult but possible !!!!!

Isn't it illegal anyway ? surely each individual boat using a VHF has to have its own licence ?
