you are in

Unless you transfer ownership of the boats into the individual hands of UK citizens with the correct antecedents to allow them to apply for and be granted a warrant, as well as having these individuals on board at all times the blue ensign is worn, this idea is an absolute no-no.

Fortunately for you, I do qualify for a blue (undefaced, naturally) ensign and if you transfer one of the boats into my hands, for say a nominal £1 for 64/64ths, I would be happy to be on board during the programme-making at a nominal daily rate of £500 + expenses.

Now you only need another 5 similarly supportive and qualified bods.

I have been onto Tristram and the fact that you clearly know how to play the game means that you are very likely to get one of the jobs

sadly the £500 a day is way out of line

call it £1,000 and its a deal I am sure

mind you Tristram makes no decisions without checking with Henry first

surely the easiest way of trolling on here is to mention anchors

although this is a good idea

we could make sure that all the boats are fitted with a well known brand of anchor

get them to drop their hooks in a well known solent bay and watch the fun begin

we could also put blue ensigns on the boats

I think this tv format is shaping up n icely - thanks chaps

If the well known "solent bay" is Studland, it isn't.

Dylan, I think an ideal person would be forumite DAKA. Although he is a motorboater rather than a sailor, his ability to be in the midst of or witnessing endless mishaps (always others, not his) would guarantee the filming crew a positive bounty of material to film

Bad idea
Too many people per boat
Too long to film
Boring commercial skippers
Uninteresting celebs

Please tell me this is a hoax. Surely my tax money (also known as a licence fee ) is not going to be wasted on this banal rubbish.

The whole thing is a badly constructed troll - Dylan, you will get blisters on your tongue for telling such monstrous fibs

To broaden the discussion, what ensign will the fleet use?

OMG, we've got the "Brains Trust" cast onto the case now!

Dylan,
In a more serious mood, I have been granted the Royal warrant to wear a defaced Blue & posess an excellent set of waterproof maritime whiskers - it also happens that I float quite well. May I too offer the token pound for a new yacht. It will of course need to be a quality Scandinavian vessel and none of that German or French BenJenBav rubbish.

You will note that as a former Management Trainer I am well versed in the ability to wind folks up untill I am in a position to admonish them for their ill temper. This makes for excelent TV as well as live (& on-line) entertainment.

I am also prepared to advertise fish fingers if you can persuade a suitable company to sponsor the programme.

Yours, ever eager, Sea Rash

astonishing idea

Would be more fun to light the Blue Ensigns

I shall pass the idea onto Tristram

just between you and I there is a good chance he will love it as he is prepared to do anything to film angry people on camera

However,I am sure that there would be several BBC meetings before deciding whether or not to go ahead with this plan

I shall report back to you as soon as I can

meantime... I would welcome your input on the advisability of such a sequence

If not a blue ensign - is there any sort of flag that you could show being burned on TV

Dylan,

Tristram mentioned that they have already bought the six boats and, as they are obviously moored up somewhere doing nothing, why don't you ask him if he would make them available for a YBW piss up, sorry, shake down cruise?

A couple of weeks would be most enjoyable for all.

You could film the event from a kite.

The Stars & Stripes (Old Glory) is regularly shown on TV being burnt but not by yachtsmen.

No one has mentioned the qualifications the old sods, sorry, old salts would need. Does Awol have a commercially endorsed YMO? Would he need to have an ENG1 medical or would that other kind do? What colour should the boats be (very important)? Are spinnakers allowed and if so which way up should they be?
