I have a trolling valve on my Ocqueteau 645 but I have no idea about when and how to use it. Can anyone please enlighten me????
A trolling valve fitted to a hydraulic gearbox, when operated, reduces the hydraulic pressure on the wet clutch alowing it to slip which reduces your speed. Very useful on a powerful motorboat that goes too fast at idle in gear for maneuvering or for fishing. Not a good idea to use the trolling valve at medium or high reves as the wet clutch can overheat.I have a trolling valve on my Ocqueteau 645 but I have no idea about when and how to use it. Thank you for that. My engine is only 50hp so I can't understand why there is a trolling valve fitted. I can crawl along at fishing speed in normal gearbox operation????A trolling valve fitted to a hydraulic gearbox, when operated, reduces the hydraulic pressure on the wet clutch alowing it to slip which reduces your speed.
