We recently transported our boat by sea from Soton to Genoa, then sailed her under own steam to Antibes. The shipping co was Zevenstar, organised by YSL in Southampton. The help and service from both companies was first rate, I would recommend them and use them again. There was no damage to the boat, except some mild boot marks on teak deck that cleaned off easily.

The loading is a bit diy. They call you on the mobile and you drive your own boat alongside the ship. They scoop it up with the ship's own cranes, using a diver to check the sling positions. Then you lock your boat up and take away the key. They call you before the ship docks and you fly to wherever to meet the ship, go aboard. Then they lift your boat into the water, you climb down rope ladder, start her up and drive off!

Here's a pic of it being craned off at Genoa

There are other pics of load & unload here on petem's site. TCM take note so you can see what Zevenstar are gonna do to your boat!
