Shall be grateful for your current thoughts and experience sharing regarding total boat acquisition cost.

Let us limit the discussion to 40-60 foot monos or multis, being professionally delivered up to 1/3 of the way around the world, and include whatever extortion the local gangsterment extracts to free the boat from their animal farm and transit to delivery destination.

(For my current project, EU and US shall be excluded by the buyer as purchase markets, because they don’t fancy putting up with gangsterment abuse involved, but for benefit of other readers seems useful to include those large delivery origins as well.)

Much obliged for your advice in advance!

I confess to complete ignorance as to your questions but suspect there will be a large, very large, difference between a 40' monohull and a 60' multi.

If you exclude the US and EU as a source but wish to actually have a choice of vessel, a decent pool of yachts (which might be difficult in the 60' range) where are you going to source said vessel.

Quite right sir! A range dependent on size shall be splendid!

Regarding US, anecdotally I heard from a pro delivery guy some years back that many circumnavigation boats from US get sold at Panama canal crossing, because the couple aboard has found “irreconcilable differences “ regarding the whole endeavour and their relationship… :(

Some of the best deals, as mentioned in refit thread, we see in the Caribbean.

Another such frequent origin place he mentioned was Langkawi in Malaysia, if I remember correctly.

In Oceania, NZ and to a lesser extent AU come to mind.

We’ve seen some great deals in Thailand.

Close to EU, Turkiye and Adriatic coast markets have come to our attention.

All that seems quite sufficient to find just 1 boat.

I too have heard the stories but don't know how accurate - 'cruising couple sell up in Hawaii' - but in a 90' mono....?

A 60' cat has the characteristics, roughly, of a 90' mono. Not many people can afford a 90' mono and most, 90' monos, if not all would demand paid crew.

You are asking for costs on a 40' mono, (which could be delivered single handed, simply google 'Chas from Tas') and a 90' crewed mono? The question has to be:

Why are you asking?

I suspect this thread is in the wrong part of YBW, maybe you should request it is transferred to the Scuttlebut section or more likely The Lounge
