Fenix :) Excellent. also, 5100 lumens. Doubly excellent!

+1 for Fenix. I have various but most useful is my PD32 which has five or six power levels from 5 lumens (260 hours runtime) through to 900 lumens (2 hours runtime). Rechargeable battery. Small enough to have in your pocket and perfect for everything from coming back from restaurant in a tender when you can't find where your boat's anchored (!) right through to providing a little light when you just want to go from your bed to the heads for a 4am pee! Beautifully made too and water proof (though not dive rated).

Fenix PD32 sounds the dogs danglies.... going to order one. Any recommendation for a UK Source? (I'm in Rep of Ireland)

Can't recall the dealer but I just Googled it and they seem to control the prices pretty well so the main dealer is about the cheapest. I'm in Cape Town atm so my Google search is geolocated so only CT suppliers came up! Was about £50 I think..

Many thanks. By the looks of things, for portable torches the cheapo Chinese LED's I have (with zoom) are the best bet, as i'm liable to leave them in the pub.

I'm going to look for a more beefy one for the boat.

Fenix +1. Impessive bit of kit.

+2 for Fenix. Well made, massive range of head and hand torches.

The small LED zooms off e-bay mentioned in Post #17 are excellent value at less than £2 each. Bright (two settings), pocket size, single AA.

Tough Max from JML - £10 from Asda. Waterproof, compact, zoomable and more power than an anti aircraft searchlight. What is not to like.

There's just so many types available nowadays, it's hard to make a choice. Must admit I've had Mag Lites and Fenix as well, both lovely stuff and very nicely made and I still love 'em but the last few of years I've bought ones like this :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25000LM-...hash=item2cb4688d1c:m:muBOyM8ttrhykEbKeL7XErg
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8000-Lum...hash=item4418c25fa6:m:mKlQ364bRt6X0Bn_CxRrPOg
Their light outputs from both are amazing, they come with batteries and charger so that might not fit your search, but in particular the larger ones are a lovely hefty bit of kit which is great for a boat work torch as it will securely stand on its end in the engine room and put out tons of light, with 3 brightness settings, battery life is good as well. And also great for general use, dog walks etc etc, The smaller ones are good output and very "pocketable" rather than the big heavy jobbies, common batteries as well for both types so its easy to keep charged ones ready for whichever torch needs them.
