Thru hull fitting

You will be paying him by the minute to do what you are capable of.
Also you might have to get the boat lifted again for the remedial work.

If this was a phone call then I would definitely asking to speak to the dog about now.
Yes..it will be expensive...he is also here for the engine service...it’s a Cummins and the generator is an Onan

Ok…something interesting…this is from the water pipe that comes from the gas separator to the thru hull…I just scooped it out from one end and only as far as my finger reached…so we talking a lot of substance….but what is it??? I think it’s rust but it could also be sea creatures…it’s quite weird

I wish I still had my microscope…I remember as a school boy making a very effective one out of a tin can, rubber band and a drop of water as a lens

Have you got any acid? if you have put a small amount of the crud in some, if it's rust the brown colour should disappear as it forms a soluble salt of iron, ferrous chloride or sulphate depending on the acid.

That won't be from the iron it will be from carbonate it doesn't surprise me that there is rust colour but the bulk of that material looks to be dross from the cooling water, what sort of strainer do you have.

yes flood it cover it leave it for an hour or so but it just looks like dross coloured with a bit of rust as you would expect, the question is what is the dross and where's it come from, is it organic? Next stage is to see if you can burn it to ash to see if it's organic.
