Thoughts on the Figaro Beneteau III

I'm just waiting for a whole bunch of II's to be on sale, real cheap.

So here's an ignorant question from a non-racer who earlier this year was pondering some crazy notion about single handed ocean racing on a budget...Once the 3s are released are there any races still organised for the 2s, i.e. a sub-amateur super-budget 2nd division solitaire?

I assume you know about these guys?

I keep an eye on it as there is a guy racing in a Parker 275 like mine. So I think budget is possible! So if handicap racing is your thing anything will do!!?!

They won't be organised by the Figaro guys, but there's nothing stopping the future owners of the boats going to a yacht club and requesting that something is organised.

I can easily imagine a Figaro II RTW race with perhaps one stop for restocking. These boats were very well built for very tough waters.

This year Solitaire du Figaro should offer among the highest level ocean racers: Michel Desjoyeaux, Armel Le Cléac’h, Jérémie Beyou, Yann Eliès, Charles Caudrelier, Loïck *Peyron, Alain Gautier, etc..

Should be well worth watching, that's for sure.
