Just come across a pic of this beauty, the Peggy Palmer.

Makes some of the car carriers coming out of Southampton look positively elegant.

She's a dumb pusher barge for use on the Mississippi. The white control bridge structure and masts at the stern are actually part of a huge tug that fits into a gigantic 'V' shaped cut out in the stern of Peggy Palmer. The tug and barge then act as one unit. Works well on the flat calm of rivers.

Yes, truly ugly but it was designed to be that shape for the reason mentioned by TimBennet whereas Elizmor (and her ilk) was originally a lovely boat by all accounts, but is now quite ugly due to the modifications...

She is beautiful in her own way, as form follows function, it would have looked wrong if they had tried to streamline her.

1981, 37,000 DWT, laid up, according to Marine Traffic.

She would make a great houseboat conversion, if you had a mooring of course..
