A handy size waterproof notebook which will enable you to write down the things you're going below for, and also to list before leaving the cockpit, the jobs to be undertaken on the foredeck..

I think some sizes, weights and heights have been deliberately changed since I was young. 20 litres of spare diesel is much heavier than the stuff they used to sell and why is the wording and symbols on paper charts smaller? Some bugger has replaced my mast with a taller one too, because last time I hauled myself aloft it was a lot shorter.:D

So far (68), so good, I kid myself I can do everything a 20 year old can do, except I need specs for small print. I will carry on until I can't any more. Meanwhile I don't have to go to work any more.
Unfortunately the beard, which used to be black, is now white.
What I can't work out is - why don't I spend ALL my time sailing?

Motor boat . . .

Yes... why not?

In the process of accidentally being able to track down the original owner of my boat, and speak to him, I found out quite a bit.
He bought her from the 1988 LBS - and shipped her to Scotland. He raced her extensively - and did OK. Replaced numerous things in Titanium after breaking them. ;)
He's been obliged to go mobo at the age of 85, down from a large newish Jeanneau DS. He still wants to go sea. Good on him.

I have got an iPad and have downloaded the Imray app with the charts for the south coast.

I the use this as a chartplotter which you can easily zoom in on.
