Teak oil

The last bottle I used went black quickly and really didn't look very good. (My fault as a cheap brand, seemed to be all linseed oil)
What is generally considered the best ? PS. boat is at home!!

Teak oil is, in my opinion, filthy stuff. It leaves a vaguely sticky surface which attracts dirt. Much better to simply treat the teak with Boracol or Patio Magic and let it go naturally silvery. If you must treat it, the Semco products linked to by MartynG work well.

You don't say what you were treating. I am using Le Tonkinois varnish for everything wooden. All of the modern stuff evaporates in salt air.

If you read about teak on various Web sites the last thing to ever use on teak is teak oil as it's solvents are very good at removing the natural protective oil in teak and that's not what you want.
Teak furniture manufacturers using grade A teak often say the best way to preserve teak is to not coat it in anything at all. If you want shiny wood then you shouldn't be using teak.
If you don't mind the natural silvery grey look then teak will be great.
Interior teak stands up far better to coatings.

Just keep it well washed but beware of pressure washers which can easily cause damage to teak .
