Dunno but suggest check for clues like blue hull, gold rocker covers, etc

I see there's a new T62 about to be launched - about time.

Should the question be a, If you were to choose;
A Sealine S.... or A Fairline Targa .....,
Which would you choose?

Was recently out in Mallorca, and say a hell of a lot of Targa's not many Sealines, And i was very Impressed with the Targa Series, But never been in one, Are they nice?

Cheers..

Alistair...

BA Peters have a well established sales office in Cala d'Or so you see plenty of Fairline's about. Not sure Sealine have any sales outlet in Mallorca but I think they sell through an outfit in Menorca run by a rogue from whom I would never advise anyone to buy a boat
As a Targa 48 owner, I agree with you on the styling which is very pleasing but some of Fairline's detail engineering is dodgy IMHO
The Sealine T48 is also a fine boat. I particularly like that roof arrangement over the cockpit. Not only can you open and close as you wish but it is much easier to erect the cockpit canopies from it unlike the Targa 48 whose canopy is a pain in the ass

I have'nt but I remember MBY's test of the similar S41 which commented on the flexing of the roof but Sealine were supposed to have beefed it up. Of course, there is always the issue of having a large lump of weight high up which cant do anything to help the CoG. I wonder if that has an effect in a big beam sea?
What I liked was not only having the rigid roof as a convenient place to hang the canvas parts of the canopy but Sealine cannily hide away spars in it which can be pulled out to support the rear canopy
Whatever people think about Sealine's image and quality, at least they're trying to move the game on with their ideas. Some ideas like the moving bathing platform on the T48 and the extending cockpit on other models are a bit naff but they've also had the balls to offer surface drives on relatively cheap models and were the first in the market with stairs to the flybridge rather than a ladder which everyone has now copied
Cant help feeling that Fairline and Princess are stuck in a conservative design rut. Yeah the boats look nice but there's no great wow factors

All fair enough. If sealine could (in the short term) just get rid of that yukky light blue logo theme on the outside, and the very very obvious and nasty fake bur walnut veneer-effect fablon/melamine all over the insides then they would be quite great. Longer term, some shapes seem a bit blobby, perhaps too many near-constant-radius curves around. They are distinctly cheaper than the others you mentioned yet a "planty"'s big 40+ newish flybridge did not feel cheap inside - a bit beige and bland, could be made a bit whizzier, but not much extra loot spending. oh yes - also the alloy cleats look dead cheap. Probably aren't dead cheap but that's not the point.

But me being a poor porper from Scotland would never be able to afford a T48, Although i'd love too. Have my eyes set on something abit more realistic.
I Would like to trade up in a few years to something like a T34, but have never been in one, what i have seen are Sealine S34, And S38's and i very much like them. How does the Fairy T34 compare too the Sealine S34?

Dont talk to me about nasty fake walnut veneer. I've got a dashboard full of it which is flaking off everywhere. Yeah, agree the Sealine's are a bit Mr Blobby but then some of them were styled when the Ford Sierra was considered cutting edge. Looking forward to some new boat designs influenced by Mr Bangle's design philosophy. That should be good for a laugh

For what its worth, I was once told by a Sealine salesman that the S37/38 was a much better sea boat than the S34. Dont know about the T34 but being an Olesinski hull, it should be a good one

Hello TCM
Sorry this response is delayed. The blue stripe was discontinued in June '98. As for the interior trim, if your awareness is the same vintage then come and see me at S'hampton. I'd be delighted to show you around.

If you are who I think you are, its my F43 TCM is talking about and I have to say it is the business and circa Feb 2003. Well done, to all at Sealine, as yet we have had literally hundreds of visitors on the boat and not one adverse comment only distinct praise and suprise at the massive strides Sealine have made. Just finished our first 2 weeks hols on her up and down the South Coast in all weathers and seas, simply superb, some decor bits needed tightening after a particularly bumpy ride but mechanically and ride wise excellent.
