there's a woman navigating one of the supers. Is nothing sacred anymore ? :)

The others are all ex America's Cup. VOR, etc. Plus shore teams setting up grib forecasts.

Yes, I knew Mrs Pera back in the 70's in RORC. A fine lawyer as well as a distinguished navigatrix.

Comanche seems to be slipping well behind WOXI. 32 miles roughly at present. Looks like long and thin beats long and fat ?

In lighter conditions, every time. Unfortunately Comanche has probably lost too much time to catch up now that the weathers becoming more suited to her.

Next year should be good. WOXI has a great advantage in that she exists almost solely to win this race and the team has a lot of experience in doing so. Comanche's only been on the water three months. Lets just hope Jim Clark doesn't throw his toys out the pram and carries on campaigning.

I thought Stan spent all his time with his TV gfx company.

Stan's a personal friend. Absolute terrific guy BTW - smart and competitive as hell but still always a perfect gentleman.

He does quite frequent 'guest navigator' gigs. He also does a lot of ISAF/safety at sea stuff - is on the Vestas investigation panel and the structural scantlings group.

He actually has promised Sally he would take a break after the AC, and they would go cruising for a year, but somehow they got too busy to actually do it.
