Sun Odyssey 35 Questions

My SO32 (2003) has a Cristec charger I guess you probably have the same. I've had no interference problem but mine is under the rear cabin berth so the extra distance might squash it.

If you have a power outage of even a fraction of a second the charger will reset and go into 5 hours boost mode so if leaving for a long period, boost should be disabled with an internal switch. Manual at http://www.cristec.fr/en/out-of-date-products/cps-chargers.html

I had a poke around under the chart table today and discovered that it is indeed a Cristec charger - so thanks!

I had downloaded the manual and noted the warning about leaving the charger on on all the time with Boost enabled - so I opened it up and disabled the boost function.

When I got home and saw the photos on the Cristec website I realised I have a second generation Cristec - the CPS2. The manual for the actual model I have (12v/25A) claims that it will not utilise boost if the batteries are fully charged. There is no warning regarding setting boost off when the mains is permanently connected.

If anyone can be bothered this is the link to the manual.

Since there is no warning and the manual states that the unit will not attempt to Boost-charge full batteries... does the panel think I will be fine reseting the switch to boost?

I realise this is very esoteric and not a little boring so I do appreciate speculation and opinion. Just looking for a little input as this stuff was last covered by me in the 1980s when batteries were called Ever Ready.

That does look an improvement. Your boat must be newer.
Yes you should be OK leaving it boost enabled.
However personally being of suspicious mind I wouldn't if it's left for long periods with absolutely no load on. I would pick a suitable voltage setting and disable the boost. Out of the presets I'd go for 13.4 if it's wet, 13.6 if it's SLA. I think their 13.0 is too low for any modern battery - you only need it that high for high antimony content ones that nobody makes now - and 14.4 is too high as a float even for lead calcium.
Of course if your battery maker says different , do what they say.
In practise I won't be leaving mine on. The boat isn't far away so I can visit it often enough to refresh charge when I feel like it, monthly or so.

I am going to spend Boxing Day photographing and writing up my mods from the last 3 years, as I have been too lazy to snap the fruits of my labours.

Watch out for those on the Jeanneau Owners site.

We'll look forward to that! I want to see the saloon table mods - I am trying to fit some form of powered winch for the keel now ...
I've also upgraded the frwrd cabin with deeper cushions and changed the shelves to Max the width.
