I do, now what gave it away? Oh yes, there's a bloody picture of it as my avatar. Though it being a motorboat I guess that counts against me twice in your eyes.

And just to make you aware, befor the motorboats, my family owned a string of sailing boats, including an HR34. The HR34 was fine as a boat, sailed ok and the jopinery was indeed very good inside. It was ashame that ours came with winces which packed up twice, supplied with the wrong prop and a pushpit that did nothing but leak. All easily sorted, but a bit niggling.

Oh, and not as good as any of the Moodys we owned befor and afterwards.

I take it the winces were somthing to do with the invoice!
 
Oh no Jezbanks, shoddy workmanship on a HR? Surely not. I thought according to an earlier contributor people with problems with their boats are too embarassed to air them thus anyone defending a Bav is not really representative of the appalling 2,500 that come out of the factory these days. Oh, and that Bat21 tells us that there is a waiting list on the HR 37, so it must be good. I wonder if there was an 18 month waiting list for Bavs, just how many people that would account for - 3,750 or so? But the 50 on the HR list (no, I don't know the figure) surely know their stuff though. There's a waiting list for Bristol Cars I believe. Good car? - I don't think so. A waiting list means nothing, other than an inability to meet demand, or maybe a dodgy marketing ploy to demonstrate demand.

Not an attack on HRs by the way - they're not for me, but I don't think they are crap boats
 
Having been in the one off and limited production industry for a while, I can say that you get what you *think* you have paid for. Which means effectively you are sold the Kings suit of clothes, by paying daft amounts for 'exclusivity'.
It also pays for a lack of industry or efficiency at the much lower work rates or inefficient production processes.

Got an injection moulded deck on your 'exclusive' machine? No?, its becuase the smaller yards can't afford that level of investment, as a f'rinstance.
All the other ingredients come from the same base suppliers, and that includes the resins, as well as the hardware, you pay all that extra for a nicely carved lump of timber or two, with staid styling IMHO.
 
Oh, and I would take the computer calculated vacumme formed hull of my Bavaria over a hand laid hull anytime. At least with their method all the GRP goes where it is supposed to, rather than relying on old bob who has been at the yard since 1924 putting enough chop strand mat somewhere with a gun he hardly understands checked only by weighing the boat!
 
After reading your posts...... what is your problem????

I have sailed many miles on a Bav, not bought one because I can't afford it, but if I could I would definitely look at them. There are thousands out there and I expect thousands of happy owners.... why do you insist on trying to put them down??? Sailing schools, charter companies seem to buy them, and they are bound to expect a lot from the boat.... obviously Bav can deliver. The one I sailed on had covered 79,000 miles in the 4 years and was still in very good condition and everything working and in one piece.... so obviously they can survive.

Its views like yours that add to these anti-Bav posts, and I agree 100% with Magnacarter.... snob springs straight to mind!

You seem to have gone very quiet now others have turned the table.... I wonder why that is???
 
Stepping into this debate after being away for the day, I am disappointed to see that out of the 44 posts, the majority are 'name calling' by the one side of the argument in particular.

Now, both sides, back to your corners for a moment, let me ask a question of both sides:

To those who clearly dislike the Baveria, have you ever sailed one?

To the pro Baveria team, do you dislike HR's, I mean do you really hate them?
 
As I am an owner of a Bav, I will put myself on the Pro side.

Do I dislike HR's. Nope, but I am beginning to wonder about some of the owners. Would I own one. Yes, if I could afford one and it met my buying criteria (Which they, together with all the other AWB's, they did not), Only the Bav and the Najad did

This wasn't really my point.... I just don't see why people have to come on here and publicly hurl insults at people and their pride and joy - I wouldn't do it, its just not polite!

I don't know the HRs, but just take a dislike to the anti-Bav postings. Not specifically HRs, but I feel that some people with these type/range will all too easily call the cheaper boats, be it snobbery or just jealousy, afterall they will both do the same thing, one just costs far more than the other.

[/ QUOTE ]No I think they are lovely boats. But I don't think they are worth the money. And quite frankly, I wouldn't want to be part of a community that thinks its OK to belittle people with boats made at a different price point.

I do totally totally agree with you, I added my post, it just happened to follow yours, not answering yours.

As I said in my earlier post, I wouldn't buy a Bav, I'd like to own a HR, maybe. What I find distasteful and boring is all this personal abuse and insulting dialog that continually goes on against Baverias.

If one doesn't like something, that's OK, your entitled to, say so, but one doesn't have to be so personal and rude about another's choice of boat, seeing ones self as being superior for owning something, more upmarket (possibly)
