so whats WRONG with Bavarias then?

Re: Guapa

Pointless making any comment about suitablility or build quality of specific boats.
i gave an opinion based on dacades of expirience once.
Shant bother again

You look at the boat you like.
You decide if it meets your needs.
If you have any doubts, Ask the salesman.. He will reassure you.

Been a long time since anyone mentioned what great sailors the Dutch are /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Hmmm... On a Dutch ship, it's veeeeeeeery tempting to comment. We're now in port getting another split welded up. The word cowboys springs to mind.

Damn, I succumbed to temptation.

p.s. You may note I am not doing same with the thread topic.

It's a tasty looking worm though. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I looked at some new ones recently.
The finish made me feel physicaly ill!

Maybe you have an allergy to GRP!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bit of an extreme reaction methinks!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

SQUIRRELS, If they are sooooo bad, why so so many sailing schools and charter companies have them? These are professional businesses who have to look at ROI and cost of running, If they were false economy, they would soon drop them!!!!

We can't all afford Wally Boats, Swans, Moody 54's etc etc.

Sent as a non-bavaria owner!

PS. I notice you don't state what boat you own!!!!?!?!?!??!

I have one but I cannot be bothered any more on these Trolls.

Suffice to say that I am a very, very contented owner who does not owe a bank a lot of money just for the pleasure of owning a boat....

The only real problem with Bavs is not the boats, it's the the utterly [--word removed--] efforts of the company at managing its PR.

a.n. owner

Maybe a bit of truth in that!

Regardless, its impossible to ignore facts, like the number sold, the number in charter, and the absence of grumbles about them from owners on this forum....

IMHO, they are OK.... not perfect, but pretty darned good for the money, and capable of doing a whole lot more than some on here are prepared to accept.....

No, it makes it a more popular car... what it doesn't however make it, is a bad car.

Your intimation is that the more sold the worse the car.... In fact its a useful analogy, because IMHO, the car market has many parallels..... in reality there are very few 'bad' products on the market... everyone accepts that an Oyster or an HR is better boat than a Bavaria in many respects.... as the Merc C Class is a better car than a Rover 75.... but neither of them are unfit for purpose....

Exactly the reason why owners do not bother responding to this crap.

Nobody, even current owners, suggest that they are better than anything else.

All that is said is that, somehow, they do not seem to fall to pieces as fast as you may suggest.

You analogy does not fit I'm afraid.

One side of the story is based on fact, the other on hot air. Make you mind up as to which side you fall on.

I've been looking at a few Bavs recently because a friend wants to get one. One thing I have noticed is that they seem to suffer from tragic depreciation. I'm not sure why that is. Could it be because people only want to buy them new (ish)?

Well Zefender sailed his Bavaria across the Atlantic with little fuss and yet I believe that I remember you saying that you, with your new Kalik 44, had not reached this year's target destination of the Channel Islands.

Just to put things in perspective. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Oh and I don't own nor have I ever owned a Bavaria, so that is a mere observation in the interest of fair play.

Well be fair, he did leave for the C.I.s in the Summer - it's just that he's still on the passage /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
